Ulloa, a place to fall in love
To the northeast of Valle del Cauca is the smallest town in this Colombian territory: Ulloa. It limits to the north with the department of Risaralda and to the east with Quindío, touching the Central Mountain Range. Besides being the smallest town, it is one of the calmest and that’s why visitors never want to leave.
To get from Cali to Ulloa, you have to cross almost the entire department, which will allow you to observe how it changes its beautiful landscapes, colors, flavors, and even the way people speak. Upon arrival, you will see one of the most iconic works of art of the municipality, it is a mound engraved and painted with the town’s most important symbols, such as the brick church, an excessively loaded Willys, the coffee mountains and a blue sky that is always present in this town. The sculptor, Germán Darío Serna, is one of those foreigners who once came to this land and decided to stay forever.
The rivers and trails of this charming town are heaven for cyclists, adventurers, fishermen and those who would give anything to cool off in pure waters surrounded by life. All these wonders are framed by the splendid coffee trees. Ulloa is proudly one of the heritage towns of Colombia, making part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape, declared by UNESCO in 2011 as World Heritage.
